On Sunday, September 6, 2026, during the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at St. Mary Church in Palos Heights, Illinois, His Eminence Metropolitan SABA ordained Subdeacon Lazarus Nichols of St. Michael Church of Beaumont, Texas, to the holy diaconate. Axios to the newly ordained!
From the Parish Council:
We welcome our new Deacon Lazarus, Axios! We are very blessed to have another deacon to serve the church and look forward to many years with him. We’d also like to thank Deacon Elias for working with and sharing his knowledge of the deacon’s role in the Orthodox Church.
Axios! Axios! Axios!
